Urban Seclusion

The goal of this charming cottage garden was to plant every inch while still maintaining room for entertaining guests and small dogs within the context of an urban setting.

The small space is rich in character as it was built from a collection of salvaged materials gathered over a period of twenty years. Brilliant displays of climbing roses embellish the public parkway, while a clematis-clad arbor marks the entry to the garden and greenhouse space. Vertical gardening with vine tapestries, espaliered trees and judiciously pruned trees and shrubs is utilized to save valuable space.
